Birding in Magical Oaxaca

Birds, Mountains, Coffee, and the Pacific Coast

A birding and nature expedition through the Central Valleys, the mountains of southern Mexico, and the Pacific coast of Oaxaca.

This journey explores some of Oaxaca’s most iconic landscapes: the colonial city of Oaxaca, the archaeological site of Monte Albán, the dry forests and scrublands of the Central Valleys, the pine-oak forests of the Sierra Juárez, the mountain forests of San José del Pacífico, the shade-grown coffee region of Pluma Hidalgo, and the tropical dry forests and coastline of Huatulco.

Throughout the expedition, we will travel across an exceptional range of habitats, from arid valleys with cacti, agaves, and mesquite to temperate forests, cloud forest, coffee plantations, tropical dry forest, rocky coastline, wetlands, and open ocean.
